Full-Scale Broadcast Production & National Commercial Campaigns
When "This Old House"—the gold standard of American home improvement—needed a production partner to bring the 'Cottage Community' series to life, they turned to Impact Studios. In collaboration with Shake The Tree Productions, we provided the comprehensive technical backbone for the entire series, from the first frame of principal photography to the final delivery of national broadcast masters.
The Mission: Impact Studios was responsible for the end-to-end execution of this technical and creative undertaking. Working alongside Jerry Effren and his master builders at Greyrock Homes, John Carboni served as Director of Photography and Video Editor. This required managing a complex workflow that captured the intricate craftsmanship of the Greyrock team with cinematic precision on an active, high-stakes construction site. Beyond the series itself, our team crafted over a dozen national television commercials, maximizing the value of the captured content for a multi-platform audience.
Technical Achievement Highlights:
End-to-End Broadcast Delivery: Provided all production crewing, high-end cinema equipment, and specialized post-production services for the complete series.
- Multi-Platform Content Strategy: Developed and edited 12+ national commercials partially derived from series content, currently airing across PBS, Roku, Peacock, Amazon Prime, and YouTube.
- High-Stakes Cinematography: Executed complex aerial and platform-based shots (up to 30 feet) to capture the structural evolution of the Cottage Community with a documentary-style cinematic feel.
- Collaborative Creative Direction: Worked in seamless partnership with Toni D’Antonio (Producer) and Shake The Tree Productions to maintain the rigorous aesthetic standards of a television institution since 1979.
